The Last but Happy Child 본문
We can be happy no matter our circumstances.
My daughter, who was in high school, wanted to go to a prestigious university, so my short child joined the basketball team. She woke herself up at 5 am and went to the basketball court. She always went in as substitute player and practiced hard. The next semester, she joined the track team and trained. My husband and I never saw my daughter go out and compete. She asked us to come only once. When we went to the stadium on the meet day at the request of my daughter, it had already started. We looked behind the runners to see where my daughter was. She was coming in second to last. After the match, we took her to a hamburger restaurant. “How did you manage to finish?” I said. “You did well.” My daughter was delighted that her parents had come to her game and she ate the hamburger. “Mom and Dad, why aren’t you eating?”. I replied, “We have already eaten.” My husband and I were happy to see her enjoying her hamburger.
My daughter reached the end, coming second to last, but her parents had come to her race and she was happy that she had completed it.
Our happiness seems to depend on the size of her humble heart.
